On Friday 19th January, students from Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) had the chance to attend a Benedetti Foundation Young People’s String day.

Hosted by Stockport Music Service, 160 students in KS2 and KS3 from local schools headed to Stockport Town Hall ballroom for the opportunity to work with the brilliant Benedetti Foundation.

The Benedetti Foundation was set up by violinist Nicola Benedetti CBE. Through mass music events, the group work to make music participation and appreciation accessible to all.

The day was one of intensive music making for young string players in Stockport.

12 LCH students from Year 7 and 8 took part, accompanied by Year 11 students who helped run the event.

The young musicians were able to hone their musical skills, working with the amazing Benedetti team, which included tutors and ambassadors from the Royal Northern College of Music,

They practiced and performed in a large orchestra, filling the ballroom with the beautiful sound of music.

The day ended with a captivating concert for parents and carers, showcasing the hard work and talent of the young performers.

Well done to all our students who played, and to our Year 11s for their work in supporting this event.
