Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) students are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results with over 78% of students achieving at least a grade 4 standard pass and 61% a strong pass in English and Maths.

Even more impressive is that 40% of all students’ grades were at 7-9, the top grades possible.

The school community are exceptionally proud of this cohort who have had to overcome so much disruption during their early years at LCH, but who have risen to the challenge and achieved outstanding outcomes.

These results are a fitting reward for the diligent and comprehensive way in which students have approached their studies and for the dedication of our staff in preparing them for their exams.

The school are also delighted to share that our Year 9 students are celebrating their phenomenal success in GCSE Spanish.

89% of our Year 9s achieved the gold standard of a grade 5 or better, 79% of students achieved at least a grade 6 or above and 42% of students achieved at least a grade 7 or above.

These results far outstrip national Year 11 figures. Laurus Cheadle Hulme are extremely proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing what the class of 2025 goes on to achieve in Year 11!

John Peet, Head of School, said:

‘On behalf of the whole Laurus Cheadle Hulme community I would like to say how extremely proud we are of the hard work, commitment and perseverance shown by all of our students. The return to full time education, following the disruption of lockdown, has not always been easy which makes the success that our students are celebrating today even more extraordinary. Finally, we are exceptionally thankful for the support shown to the students and the school by our founding families and the wider school community. Our students fully deserve the success that they are celebrating today, and we would like to wish them all the very best for their life beyond Laurus Cheadle Hulme.

Linda Magrath, CEO of the Laurus Trust, said:

“Choosing to send a child to a brand-new, untried and tested, school is an extraordinary leap of faith for any parent. From the very start our ‘founding families’, together with our dedicated and talented staff, have worked in partnership to ensure that the LCH students had the very best support, encouragement and educational experience possible. This year has already seen LCH judged to be Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted which, together with this first impressive set of outcomes, demonstrates that the faith and trust shown by our parents was not misplaced. I am incredibly proud of every single LCH student for their hard work and diligence over the last 5 years, and delighted to see this rewarded by some brilliant results.”
