We’re excited to share the results of the Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) Musician of the Year (MOTY) competition 2023.

Music is an important part of our curriculum here at LCH.

Through the MOTY competition, we recognise the hard work of our aspiring musicians and celebrate their talents.

This year’s competition, which took place Thursday 15th June, saw 8 student musicians competing to be crowned the winning MOTY.

The competitors were from a range of Year Groups and had a variety of talents.

We saw performances on piano, drums, violin, electric guitar, clarinet, cornet and voice.

Performing to a live audience of 40 music students, they each had their chance to show everyone why they deserved to win.

Every participant gave a talented performance, which made the judges’ decision difficult.

After much deliberation, this year’s overall winner was Casper from Year 10 on the electric guitar!

Casper showed off incredible talent and skill which wow’ed the judges and audience.

Highly Commended Awards were also handed out.

Maanya in Year 10 was highly commended for a spectacular vocal performance, as was Lila in Year 9 for a fantastic violin solo.

Congratulations to all the performers and winners, and to our award-winning audience!

As a Music Mark school, we recognise the value of music as part of the curriculum.

Music offers an important form of expression for young people, and we’re thrilled to provide opportunities like MOTY.

See more talented musicians in one of our upcoming musical events!

Thank you to all of the students who took part in this year’s competition, and to the staff who made it possible!
