Welcome to our
Virtual Open Evening
Welcome to our virtual Open Evening. Staff and students would have loved to have met you in person, however, this is not possible this year. We hope the videos and information here give a flavour of our vision for our students, our passion for teaching and our commitment to success.
Laurus Cheadle Hulme (LCH) opened in September 2018 and moved into its brand new building the following March. It hasn’t taken long for LCH, with its distinctive uniform and well-behaved students, to become part of the local community. It is increasingly oversubscribed year on year.
Now we have been joined by our third cohort and all 660 students are all fully embracing the facilities on offer, as well as our living up to our expectations for academia and behaviour.
By 2022, our 11-16 high school will reach full capacity and as we continue to fill the school year on year, the experiences to date have been extremely fulfilling. The students are proud to wear their uniform and have established themselves with their teachers as a large family unit. Parents are fully committed to supporting the school and trust us to treat their children in a firm but fair manner. Our students are developing the qualities and habits which we try to foster in all Laurus Trust schools, qualities such as courage, perseverance, social intelligence and optimism
Laurus Cheadle Hulme is a positive environment where students and staff are happy to work hard and be rewarded for their efforts. Our students and staff wear badges they have earned with pride which adds weight to the phrase ‘badge on shirt’.
We have a team of expert, inspired and passionate teachers who all have high expectations of themselves and your children. At the Laurus Trust we believe in life-long learning and therefore encourage our teachers to pursue their Masters qualification in Education. This, we believe, keeps them in touch with the reality of how hard learning something new can be.
We are unashamedly academic because why wouldn’t we be? We want our children to have the qualifications that open doors for them and in turn opportunities which they will embrace with confidence and a smile.
Our mantra ‘whatever it takes’ is the reality. Individuals matter at Laurus Cheadle Hulme and teachers are able to make a real difference to each child’s progress.

The Laurus Trust Vision
The Laurus Trust’s vision is for every student, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.
Together with an unashamedly academic approach to education, this vision is embraced by all Trust schools and is underpinned by four key cornerstones. These are:
- Academic Aspiration – we want our students to be curious and develop a thirst for knowledge.
- Competition and Physical Endeavour – we want students to approach competition with optimism and vitality.
- Culture, Creativity and Rhetoric – alongside academic success, we passionately believe in the importance of education in its broadest sense and we ensure the fullest participation in art, music and drama.
- Leadership and Service – we place great importance on both leadership and participation and encourage students to take on roles of responsibility.
Our outstanding teachers have high expectations of all students, from our youngest reception pupils to our sixth formers, and our young people, including those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities or who are supported by Pupil Premium, make rapid and sustained progress. Indeed, we believe that socially disadvantaged students should receive the same education as those in the best private schools and our curriculum structure is based on students developing a core body of knowledge.
In this positive learning environment, students’ attitudes to learning are exemplary. Staff and students are unreservedly positive about both behaviour and safety.
By taking advantage of everything a Laurus school can offer our young people we aim to ensure that they can all open the door to the future of their choice.
‘The magic of this job is when you see those young adults opening up that envelope on results day. It’s seeing the results of all that hard work by the staff, the students and the parents’ – Laurus Trust CEO Linda Magrath
You must apply for a place using the local authority online form. The deadline is 31st October 2020 for a September 2021 place in Year 7. Laurus Cheadle Hulme does not have a catchment area. If a tie-break is required those living closest to the school will have priority. Please visit our Admissions page for more information.
