Ten student leaders from Year 10 at Laurus Cheadle Hulme attended the annual Stockport Youth Summit at Stockport Town Hall on Tuesday 10th February.

The event brought together young people from schools across the borough to share their views on the issues that matter most to them. Our students took part in discussions throughout the day, offering their perspectives on a range of challenges faced by teenagers in Stockport today.

This year’s summit focused on the future of Stockport, with emphasis on the facilities and resources needed to ensure Stockport is the best place in the country for children to grow up.

Topics included safe community spaces, transport links, employability opportunities and other key aspects of life for young people.

The Youth Summit aims to provide a platform for young people across Stockport to share the key issues impacting their wellbeing with influential local leaders. Students were joined by peers from many schools across Stockport, working together to share experiences and ensure their voices were heard.

We were also pleased that Phoebe from LCH was selected to be a member of the Student Panel. She spoke thoughtfully in front of more than 250 students, highlighting issues that affect young people across the borough.

It was a valuable day for all involved. Well done to our student leaders for representing LCH so well!
