We’ve enjoyed a fantastic Pride Month at Laurus Cheadle Hulme and it’s been wonderful to see the involvement of staff and students alike.

Pride-related activities have been taking place in form time and we’ve been looking at famous, subject-specific icons from the LGBT+ community in lessons.

The rainbow flag has been flying proudly outside school throughout June and our work towards achieving the Rainbow Flag Award has been continuing over the course of the year.

The award focuses on positive LGBT+ inclusion and visibility in schools, encouraging a whole organisation approach including the implementation of strategies to effectively challenge and combat LGBT+ phobic bullying.

We have recently achieved the second of six standards required to meet the full award criteria and you will now see the Effective Policies badge proudly displayed on the website alongside the Skilled Teacher badge.

We remain committed to improving the lives of our students, including those who identify as LGBT+ and those from LGBT+ families, as well as LGBT+ staff members.

We have shared the details of organisations and groups who can support LGBT+ young people within school and if you need to access any help or information please click the links below:
